THE ANNOTATED LOVECRAFT explores, post by post, the weird fiction of Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937). A classicist and bibliophile, Lovecraft filled his work with erudite references and allusions, citing fields as disparate as astronomy, ancient history, metaphysics, pagan mythology, and the occult. By examining each passage individually, we hope to demonstrate, to those who still doubt the aesthetic value of supernatural horror, the remarkable depth of Lovecraft’s fiction. Questions and comments should be addressed to our founder and editor, Dylan Henderson, who can be found on the web at Hypnos Magazine, one of his many projects dedicated to the weird tale.
